Artist and Art Enthusiast collaborate to establish an Art Village in Hampi.

Art Residencies in Indian Hampi

Four individuals, including two artists and art enthusiasts, have joined forces to establish Hampi’s first major Art Village in Karnataka.

The art village would be an ideal place for both local and international Artists who are seeking to expand their artistic skills and wish to network with other artists and be a part of a community. The Art Village would offer both short-term and long-term art residencies. In addition, the village would host regular art workshops, seminars, art camps, and exchange programs.

The goal is to provide a platform for young and senior artists to learn about various art genres and receive proper mentorship and guidance says senior Artist Kasim Kanasavi.

” It is essential to connect artists and craftsmen in this era. I was fortunate to be a member of Lalit Kala Akademi for three years, during which I realized my artistic goals and expanded my practice through community learning. I have been planning to offer a similar experience to my fellow artists.

About the location:

We chose the location after careful consideration. Hampi has been a magical place for many artists in the past, and it continues to be the same. A UNESCO World Heritage site that inspires many people around the globe. The place can also be reached easily from major cities like Goa, Hyderabad and Bangalore, hence, we chose Hampi.  I also wanted to continue the long tradition of Artists arriving in the area for inspiration and calm.

We have already acquired three acres of land and have established an Art Trust and Foundation to help us promote art in the region. The construction of the Art Village is currently underway, and we aim to open it by the last quarter of 2024. The village will feature a dedicated art studio and space for artists of all genres ensuring it offers something for everyone – an exhibition and performance centre, accommodation facilities, and a cafe. The space will also be open to tourists who wish to visit and observe the artists in action.” – Artist Kasim Kanasavi
